Founder’s Award for Outstanding Achievement
Founder’s Award for Outstanding Achievement
The prestigious Founder’s Award for Outstanding Achievement was presented to Blacktown City Council for its “Socials Connecting Our Community” initiative, which sets a benchmark for local government engagement by transforming national road safety campaigns into highly targeted, localised conversations. Using a data-led approach across 54 suburbs, the initiative turned local crash information into compelling messaging on social media, achieving a 758 percent increase in engagement, a 309 percent rise in reactions, and a 1600 percent increase in comments. In response to a series of fatal crashes, the project adopted a local lens to make road safety data more relevant and accessible, contributing to a 43 percent reduction in fatalities in the second half of 2025. This work demonstrates the vital role local government plays in influencing behaviour, strengthening community connection, and delivering measurable reductions in road trauma.
